Istituto Leone XIII

The intervention addresses the limitations of the existing layout, reinterpreting accessibility through a new entrance that strengthens the connection with the urban fabric.

The design unfolds as a fluid sequence of interior spaces, organised into laboratories, multifunctional areas and social settings that overcome the traditional separation between corridors and classrooms. At its core lies the enhancement of the educational experience and the embrace of new learning models, less rigid, more open to dialogue and exchange. An agora is introduced within the layout, serving as both a central distribution hub and a venue for events, alongside a Recreation Center that reinforces the identity and functionality of sports activities. Outdoor spaces are enhanced, and rooftops reimagined to host open-air laboratories and personal development activities, strengthening the school’s ecological and dynamic dimension.
The result is an environment that encourages collaboration and student wellbeing, returning to the community a school that is more open, inclusive and integrated.
