La Rotonda

The project reimagines spaces as an open educational hub, where architecture becomes an active part of learning and relational processes. Design is rooted in an interdisciplinary approach integrating education and neuroscience to understand needs related to attention, concentration, interaction and emotional well-being. Neuroscientific evidence guided spatial choices, creating environments that foster collaboration, belonging and trust.

The intervention reorganizes the building’s interior through the creation of a central open and continuous space, overcoming the traditional sequence of corridors and closed classrooms. This space becomes a place for meeting, movement and exchange. Movable walls and bespoke furniture enable dynamic configurations adaptable to different educational activities, encouraging group work and collaborative learning. Study areas develop along the building perimeter, offering more intimate and protected spaces that support concentration and calm. Outdoors, the project extends into public space with an event arena, educational gardens, inclusive play areas and relaxation zones, strengthening the link between education, community and territory. Each environment is designed to stimulate balance, curiosity and safety, contributing to self-esteem and relational skills development.
