Piazza Beccaria

The intervention is part of a multi-year restoration program on a listed building under the supervision of the Heritage Authority. The project focuses on living spaces and shared areas, preserving and enhancing the property’s original architectural features.

The project included detailed design development, MEP engineering and construction supervision for a building of about 2,000 sq m, arranged over five floors around the Teatro Gerolamo. Internal heights, often over 3 meters, and the double-height penthouse highlight the spatial quality of the interiors. Apartment layouts follow the building’s historic morphology, providing views over Piazza Beccaria and, through the inner courtyard, towards the Duomo. The project integrates a DALI lighting system combining indirect lighting, cove lighting, spotlights and wall lamps, calibrated to the different spatial characteristics. Natural materials define the interior identity: solid oak in parquet blocks, microcement, marble in the bathrooms, and bespoke boiserie designed to integrate technical passages and entrances. Works also involved shared areas, including the condominium staircase, entrance hall and doors. The building systems combine radiators, ducted VRF and radiant floor panels on the top floor, complemented by advanced home automation solutions and integrated audio.
The project recomposes a protected heritage asset with contemporary solutions, delivering high energy performance while maintaining a coherent continuity with the language of the historic Milanese building.
